Seems Pretty Obvious

A patient came into today and was complaining about a lots of gas and bloating.

I had given him a Pitta Vata nutritional format along with aloe and his PSA had dropped from 18.1 to 2.4 indicating that his abnormal lab value was related to his nutrition. He had not been treated with any pharmaceuticals.

"So how are you doing with the nutritional work or diet," I asked.

"Oh, so so. But I am using the aloe." he said sheepishly.

"So Jim(not his real name), if you stop the pork, hot BBQ sauce and greasy foods that provoke your gut, I think that your bowel symptoms will dissipate and go away."

"Increased gas, bowel activity, acid indigestion are all related to acidity and/or increased bowel transit times," I continued.

This is not an uncommon scenario but it requires that we begin looking at GI function in terms of nutrition.

Wait a minute! You mean to say that what I eat has something to do with how my GI tract works and feels?

What a concept. If I pour acid on my skin and it burns, I think, "Oh the acidity caused that."

Why would we not think that putting acidic loading foods in the GI tract wouldn't cause the same provocation? Well, it's because our mindset about nutrition doesn't have room for it. The matter science nutritional format has no molecular room for it. Why? Because we have no concept that foods can be inflammatory or antiinflammatory, congestive on noncongestive, degenerative or antidegenerative.

There's a story of an Native American indian standing on the shore with a Spanish explorer asking how he got there.

"You see that ship out there. We came in that," said the explorer. But the indian couldn't see them because his context had no room for a ship like that.

This concept of lack of perception has also been also been shown in the laboratory with cats.

Soooooo… we can change about perceptions about nutrition(the ships are really out there).

Changing Ourselves in Relationships Through Nutrition

Bigstockphoto_Couple_Crisis_1208131

Jim had for some time found himself getting into "hot water" with his colleagues at work, friends, and at times even with his family. This was due to not finding his appropriate boundaries in relating to others.

For example, he would find himself offering advice when it was not requested. At times he would find himself almost "testing the waters" in his communicating with others. Still other times he found great anxiety in fostering relationships with others – a free floating anxiety about his relationships.

Byt the long and short of Jim's story was that in order for him to find peace in his relationships around him he had to change himself.

Our relationships are food for us as well. As a matter of fact everything is food, not just that which we take in at meal times. Because of this, we should nurture relationships that are positive and that we are not comfortable focusing on negative food.

The value of energy science nutrition is that the concept of nutrition goes far beyond the molecular promises of greater health offered by the matter science nutritional work.

The energy science medical model understands nutrition in a more complete and expansive way. It can do this because our energy shares a commonality with the greater energy field.

So everything nourishes us, food, relationships, the environment, stars and planets from an energy science view. And the interesting thing about food and diet nutrition is that since it is the most intimate to our own physiology it has potentially the greatest impact on our mindbody physiologies.

When Jim eats to balance his mindbody physiology his difficulty in relationships will change because he will be changed by the nutrition he takes in because food produces a more balanced state.

Better than Butter

Bigstockphoto_Lobster_dinner_5387814

Remember when we were young and there was the rare treat of having lobster? Growing up in the Midwest it was an unusual happening but ....

What about that golden liquid butter that they served with the lobster for dipping? The menu said it was clarified butter but all I remember was that it was gooood with the lobster.

Now the journey with clarified butter has come full circle and I understand it with a different perspective.

From an energy science nutritional view clarified butter is named ghee and the medicinal properties of this substance are amazing.

Ghee is not just melted butter. The clarification process frees the butter of the harmful fatty acids which are cooked out of the unsalted butter that you begin with. Literally the fatty acids are cooked out and you find them at the bottom of the cooking vessel as a slimy, oily, heavy, static, soft, slow/dull, liquid goo. Why would anyone want to put that into their mindbodies?

The medicinal properties of ghee are extraordinary. It stimulates digestive fire, oleates the GI tract hence improving function, penetrates all the tissue layers of the mindbody within twenty four hours, and can serve as an excellent vehicle in proper circumstances to deliver medicine to various tissue layers.

The matter science nutritional literature is devoid of understanding the power of this type of food preparation because of its molecular approach to foods and diet. The mindbody is a richer reality than a sophisticated collection of molecules.

And ghee is good for everyone!                              To health as a skill  Love DrBill

Unconscious Eating

Bigstockphoto_No_Talking_4210062
A retired patient was relating his observations of people who smoked at the shipyard where he had once worked.

He said that he would see people prepare their cigarette packs so they had easy access to the cigarettes and could pull them out at any moment.

As he mused in his remembrances he said, "Some might come in and put the cigarette down and thirty seconds later reach into their pocket to light up another while the other burned away in another part of the room, totally engaged in the work and unconscious about what was happening with what was going on at the level of the mouth."

There is a movement in Canadian health magazines to instill interest in the idea of mindfulness in eating.

The idea is to be engaged in the process. How many times are we so engaged in the conversation that we hardly know what we ate let alone what it tasted like, not to mention how it made our mindbody feel.

In energy science nutrition the concept of eating in silence two to three times per week helps set this trend. Of course the matter science nutritional literature is devoid of such a suggestion.

So let's make a deal with ourselves about eating and lifestyle behavior:

Eat in silence during the week and when doing so, feel how the food make you feel

Always eat sitting down (but not in the car)

Reduce conversation at the table by example

There is an intuitive sense that when we do so we will digest our diet, foods and drink better.

The Energy Science Chef of the 21st Century

Bigstockphoto_Chef_3567295

There will come a day in the not too distant future where there will gourmet chefs who will delight in their cooking because it improves our health.

And further this chef knows how to be energetically healthy and knowing the importance of energy science nutrition puts his customers health at primo importance.

What a concept!

The chef will insist that ice water not be served to his clientele.

He will use foods that are fresh, organic, and locally home grown. The spices that are used will be fresh from his own spice garden.

The foods will be correct for the person's energy mindbody that is ordering, that is, the orders will steer the person toward those entrees that are balancing for the individual.

And the rich amount of herbs will invoke a strong digestive fire that will leave the visitors with a sense of lightness.

And more than likely the chef will use clarified butter(ghee) because he knows of the medicinal qualities and that such use will enhance the health of his customers.

Presently restaurants seem more willing to cater to the health desires of their customers. The kind of service that I'm describing here takes that service up a notch.

And you know what? We the consumers will know the difference between matter and energy science nutrition and and support such a shop that prides itself in doing the latter.
